Hawthorne sits between Lake Santa Fe and Lochloosa Lake. That makes it beautiful – and it also means water damage here happens fast and spreads far.
We know the local flood patterns, the moisture challenges, and how to get your property dry and repaired the right way. Available 24/7.
We’ll call you back within 24 hours to schedule.
Hawthorne sits on the eastern edge of Alachua County, surrounded by Lake Santa Fe to the north and Lochloosa Lake to the south. These lakes, combined with the area’s wetlands and high annual rainfall, make Hawthorne one of the more water-vulnerable communities in North Central Florida.
During heavy rain season, lake levels rise and water tables follow. Properties close to the shore deal with groundwater intrusion that regular water damage companies aren’t always prepared for. Older homes in Hawthorne – many with crawl spaces – hold standing water under the floor long after the visible flooding is gone.
Mold starts forming within 24 to 48 hours in Florida’s humid climate. In Hawthorne’s lake-adjacent environment, that window is even shorter. Call us immediately — (352) 505-3321.
We know Hawthorne’s water challenges. We respond 24/7 with the right equipment – industrial extractors, structural drying gear, and moisture meters that check behind walls and under floors – and we handle everything from extraction through final repairs.
A clear five-step approach – done thoroughly so you’re not dealing with mold or hidden damage weeks later.
We remove standing water fast to minimize damage – using industrial pumps and wet vacuums that extract far more than consumer equipment.
Industrial pumps and vacuums remove standing water quickly – from floors, crawl spaces, and anywhere it’s pooled.
Air movers and dehumidifiers run until moisture readings confirm the full structure is dry – not just the surface.
Wet drywall, soaked insulation, and unsalvageable flooring come out safely so mold can’t grow behind repaired surfaces.
We fix what the water broke – drywall, flooring, ceilings – and bring your property back to how it was before the damage.

Jorge Villalobos started The Best Restoration with one truck and a straightforward goal – show up when people need help, do the job right, and be honest about what it takes.
He came from Colombia, learned the restoration business in Gainesville, and saw how often homeowners got left managing multiple contractors through a stressful situation. He built his company to handle the full job – so you deal with one team, from first call to final repair.
Today that team runs nine trucks across North Central Florida, serving Hawthorne and surrounding Alachua and Putnam County communities with the same standard Jorge set at the start.

Where to begin!? About a month ago, a water leak destroyed the floors throughout much of our house, and we couldn't be happier with The Best Restoration. They took care of the water damage mitigation, packing, demo, and new flooring installation. Every single person we interacted with was incredible--kind, empathetic, professional, efficient--but we were especially amazed by Rodger's dedication, communication, and leadership. He went above and beyond for us time and again and made this entire process as quick and stress-free as possible. When his team was tied up with other projects one day, he came at 6:00 p.m. on a Friday evening to wrap up the leak mitigation and haul out the equipment himself just to make sure we could have a quiet weekend without the fans. He then planned most of the demo and floor installation for the week of our planned vacation, and took care of absolutely everything while we were gone--hunting down the closest match to our original flooring that could be found anywhere from Gainesville to Ocala and sending photos and videos of the team's progress to keep us in the loop. Rodger is exceptional, as is the team under his leadership. We certainly aren't *planning* to have another house-related catastrophe in the near future, but it's comforting to know that if we do, there's such an outstanding team ready to help.![]()

Things people ask us most before calling – answered honestly.
Hawthorne sits between Lake Santa Fe and Lochloosa Lake, with wetlands and low-lying land throughout the area. During heavy rain, lake levels rise and local water tables rise with them — which pushes groundwater into properties, especially older homes with crawl spaces or poor drainage. The area also gets significant summer storm activity. Properties near the lakes deal with moisture issues that are specific to this geography and don't always respond to standard water damage approaches. We factor in all of this when we assess a Hawthorne property.
We answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you call, a real person picks up and we dispatch a crew immediately. In most cases we can be at your Hawthorne property within 1 to 2 hours of your call. Speed matters because water spreads quickly - into walls, under floors, and into areas you can't see. The faster we start extraction, the less damage you end up with and the lower your repair costs.
In Hawthorne, the most common calls we get are from burst or leaking pipes, appliance failures (washing machines, water heaters, dishwashers), storm-related roof leaks during heavy summer rain, and rising groundwater from the lake-adjacent water table. Older homes in the Hawthorne area also sometimes have plumbing issues or foundation gaps that allow water intrusion during wet seasons. We're familiar with all of these and know how to assess them accurately when we arrive.
Water extraction typically takes a few hours. Structural drying takes 3 to 5 days - we monitor moisture levels daily and don't sign off until readings confirm the structure is dry all the way through, not just the surface. Repairs that follow - drywall, flooring, insulation - take additional time depending on the scope. We give you a realistic timeline after the initial assessment and update you throughout so you're never wondering what's happening with your property.
Standard homeowner's insurance covers sudden and accidental water damage - burst pipes, appliance overflows, storm-related leaks. It typically doesn't cover gradual leaks that went ignored, or flooding from outside the home (which requires separate flood insurance). Hawthorne's proximity to the lakes means some properties have flood insurance - it's worth checking your policy. We document everything from day one and work directly with your adjuster to support your claim.
Yes - and in Hawthorne's humid lake-adjacent environment it happens faster than most homeowners expect. Mold can start forming within 24 to 48 hours of a water event, especially in warm months. Water that gets inside walls, under flooring, or in crawl spaces creates ideal conditions for mold to grow unseen for weeks or months. We include mold inspection and prevention as a standard part of our water damage restoration - we don't just dry the surface and leave.
Yes - many older Hawthorne homes have crawl spaces that collect water, especially during high-water-table periods near the lakes. Water sitting in a crawl space can weaken structural wood, create mold, and affect the air quality in the living space above. We extract standing water from crawl spaces using specialized equipment, dry the space thoroughly, treat for mold, and can install vapor barriers to reduce future moisture intrusion. It's one of the most overlooked water damage problems in this area.
You can remove surface water with towels and fans to limit immediate spreading - but consumer equipment can't dry inside walls, under subfloors, or in cavities where most damage actually happens. The biggest risk of DIY drying is thinking the space is dry when it's actually still wet inside the structure - which leads to mold growing undetected. Call us quickly and let our equipment confirm what's actually dry and what isn't. It costs far less to get it right once than to deal with mold remediation later.
Yes - we handle the full job. After the water is out and the structure is confirmed dry, we repair or replace whatever the water damaged - drywall, flooring, insulation, ceilings. You don't need to find a second contractor for the repair phase. Having one team handle everything means no gap between drying and repair where new moisture problems can develop, and no situation where two contractors disagree about what was done.
Yes - we regularly serve lake-adjacent properties in and around Hawthorne, including those near Lake Santa Fe, Lochloosa Lake, and the surrounding wetlands. These properties often deal with groundwater intrusion and high-humidity conditions that require a different approach than standard water damage in drier areas. We're familiar with the challenges specific to these locations and bring the right equipment to handle them properly.
